Quick Answer
The main Gakuran Music Room is on the first floor of Nishikata High School, with a secondary Music Room added in v7.148. Interact with an instrument — Electric Guitar (2 lanes), Bass, Drums, or Piano (4 lanes) — and follow the notes down the lanes. It is a Green Zone, so combat is disabled and it is a safe spot to socialize or form a live band.
Where to Find the Music Room
Nishikata High School has two music rooms:
- Main Music Room — First floor: The original room with playable instruments including the piano.
- Secondary Music Room — v7.148: Community reports place it near the dojo on the second floor in the top-left area of the map.
Tip: follow the sound. The room is often active, so you can hear songs or note effects before you reach the entrance.
Every Playable Instrument
Rhythm-based music gameplay. Notes travel down lanes and you press the corresponding key at the right time. Ratings range from Perfect to Bad.
Electric Guitar
Fewest lanes to track — the best starting instrument for beginners. Perfect for learning note timing.
Bass Guitar
A natural step up from guitar. More note tracking required but forgiving to learn.
Drums
Fast reactions help. Active and challenging, best for rhythm game fans.
Piano
Classic music-room vibe. Keyboard-style play that rewards timing practice.
Beginner Tip
Start with the Electric Guitar — its 2 lanes are the least overwhelming. Learn note timing there, then move up to the 4-lane instruments (Bass, Drums, Piano).
Playing With Friends (Bands)
The music room is designed for social play:
- Multiplayer sync: Multiple players can perform together simultaneously.
- Late joiners: Automatically synced to the current song position — jump in mid-song.
- Live band: One player on guitar while others play bass, drums, or piano.
Gather a group in the music room and coordinate via the in-game phone to keep in touch for future sessions.
Song Library
The song library keeps growing with every update. Recent patches added 10 new phone music tracks and 15 new instrument songs — including American Idiot, Creep, Toxicity, Yoru ni Kakeru, and more.
Practice one song until you recognize the patterns before switching tracks — rhythm game improvement comes from repetition.
