Gakuran Ethnicity Guide (2026)
All 6 ethnicities, roll odds, height averages, and which fighting styles work best with each. Based on official Trello data.
Quick Answer
There are 6 ethnicities in Gakuran: Japanese (95%), European, African, Middle Eastern, Latinx, and Indian (each ~1%). Ethnicity does not directly change your combat stats — it determines your height range, which in turn affects HP, damage, reach, hitbox, and attack speed. Japanese is perfectly viable for any build; only reroll if you want an extreme height advantage.

Ethnicity Deep Dive
European
Rare (~1%)Tallest average height. Best for players who want max reach, HP, and damage per hit. Slower attack speed requires a spacing playstyle.
African
Rare (~1%)Second tallest. Good all-around choice for tall builds if you cannot roll European. Slightly less reach but still strong for grapple-focused styles.
Middle Eastern
Rare (~1%)Mid-height option. Versatile — neither too tall nor too short. Works with most fighting styles. A safe pick if you land it.
Japanese
Common (95%)The default roll. Perfectly workable for any build. Dont feel pressured to reroll — Japanese is competitive at all skill levels.
Latinx
Rare (~1%)Slightly shorter than Japanese. Favors speed and rushdown play. Pairs naturally with fast, aggressive fighting styles.
Indian
Rare (~1%)Shortest average height. Best hitbox for evasive play. Faster attacks and lower cooldowns. Ideal for players who rely on dodging and quick combos.
Height & Combat — The Real Effect
Ethnicity feeds into height, and height is what actually changes your combat performance. Here is the trade-off:
Tall Build (European/African)
- More HP and damage per hit
- Longer melee reach
- Larger hitbox (easier to hit)
- Slower attack speed and dashes
- Best with: Wrestling, Muay Thai, Kurei
Short Build (Indian/Latinx)
- Faster attacks and lower cooldowns
- Smaller hitbox (harder to hit)
- Less HP and lower damage per hit
- Quicker evasive dashes
- Best with: Boxing, Capoeira, Basic
Reroll Strategy
- Dont chase rare ethnicity for the label. The ethnicity name itself gives no stat boost — only the height matters.
- Check your height first. If you rolled Japanese but got an extreme height (very tall or very short), that may already be optimal for your playstyle.
- Reroll ethnicity is free. Unlike fighting styles, ethnicity and height rerolls cost no Robux. Spin freely until you land the height range you want.
- Lock height before style. Settle on your height first, then reroll fighting styles to match. A tall European with Boxing is weaker than a short Indian with Boxing.
