Gakuran Mobility & Dash Mechanics (2026)
The dash is more than a gap-closer. Learn dash i-frames, reset timing, latency margin, and the diagonal peak-speed trick that advanced players call "Stim-Dash" — the footwork that wins Gakuran PvP before a punch is thrown.

Quick Answer
Hold sprint (Shift) and dash (Q) with a clean 45° diagonal input to reach peak dash speed. The dash grants a short i-frame window you can use to dodge a committed hit, then reset with a sprint chain. On high-ping servers, widen your timing margin — tight resets fail more often. Exact frame numbers are community-tested, not officially published, so treat dash calculators as approximations.
1. What "Stim-Dash" Means
Stim-Dash is community terminology for advanced dash-cancel movement — chaining the dash with sprint and directional inputs to move faster and dodge more reliably than a single dash allows. Fan tooling sometimes ships a "Mobility & Stim-Dash Calculator" to model dash velocity and reset timing.
2. Dash i-Frames
The dash (Q on PC) is a burst of speed with i-frames — a brief window where incoming hits do not connect. Use it to slip a single committed attack, then reposition.
- Slip, don't tank: the i-frame window is short, so dash to dodge one telegraphed hit, not a full combo.
- Punish the whiff: after a dodged heavy, your opponent is exposed — dash in and start your own string.
- Escape pressure: a diagonal dash out of a corner resets the fight more reliably than backing straight out.
3. Reset Timing & Latency Margin
A "reset" is recovering from the dash and immediately dashing again to keep momentum. The safer your timing, the more resets you land.
- Measure your ping before advanced practice.
- On high ping, add a safety margin instead of attempting frame-perfect chained dashes.
- Take the reset when timing is comfortable, not when it is barely possible.
- On low-ping servers, chain sprint + dash aggressively; on high-ping, switch to positioning.
4. Diagonal Dash — Peak Speed
A clean 45° diagonal input (W+A / W+D / S+A / S+D) reaches peak dash speed. Straight-line dashes are slower, and sloppy single-key input wastes the burst.
Practice Drill
- Hold Shift to sprint.
- Dash (Q) diagonally — confirm the clean 45° alignment by feel.
- Chain: sprint → dash → sprint → dash. Keep the rhythm even.
- Practice against a wall to feel the speed difference between straight and diagonal dashes.
- In sparring, use diagonal dash to close the gap on taller, longer-range opponents.
5. Wall Routes — Break Line of Sight
Route control resets enemy tracking. Use the schoolyard structures to break line of sight and escape chase pressure.
- Circle fences and corners so enemies lose your angle mid-chase.
- Reset combat and repath around walls when your dash i-frames run out.
- Break line of sight before healing or switching stance to force the opponent to re-commit.
